How much does it cost for my child to attend Sandcastles Early Education Centre?
Fees will vary depending on how many days your child will be attending and which classroom they are in. We offer a discount for families who enrol their children five (5) days per week and you may also be eligible for subsidies through the Australian Government Child Care Benefit Scheme. Families who hold a health care card and have a child enrolled in childcare are also eligible for a further fee reduction. Please call (02)66825244 for a quote.
This is my child's first day away from me. What should I expect?
We understand that this can be a very emotional time for families as well as children and our goal is to make your child's transition into care as smooth and as happy as possible. We encourage you to bring your child in for a visit before their first day so you can meet the Educators and join in with a few learning experiences with your child. Please feel free to call anytime if you would like to see how your child is going throughout the day once they commence. Educators will also be available to discuss your child's day when you pick them up.
My child is just about to start toilet training. Can this continue while they are in your care?
Definitely. Educators aim to ensure continuity between the home and care environment. Specific toileting procedures are always adhered to within the centre to ensure your child is always safe and comfortable. Educators will also discuss your individual toilet training goals with you upon enrolment as we are aware that every child is different and needs to be catered for accordingly.
How do Educators deal with inappropriate behaviour?
Educators take a caring and supportive role when dealing with innapropriate behaviour. Innapropraite behaviours may include a child putting themself or someone else at risk, displaying culturally inappropriate gestures or words, or actions which in any way negatively affect others. The main strategies we use to ensure all children remain safe and happy include positive reinforcement, positive redirection and reflective discussion. What should I bring every day?
Sandcastles Early Education Centre supplies nappy wipes and sunscreen throughout the day. However there are a number of things we ask you to pack in your child's bag every day;
- Nappies and/or spare underwear
- Change of clothes in case of soiling or spillages during hands on learning experiences
- Hat for outdoor play ." No Hat No play "
- Drink bottle
- Bed sheets for rest time
My child is sick. Can they still attend?
In order to protect your child, other children, parents and staff we ask that you please keep your child at home if they are unwell. This includes symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhoea in the last 24 hours, high temperatures, rashes, flu viruses or conjunctivitis.
What will happen if my child becomes ill or is injured during the day?
Upon enrolment contact details for the primary caregivers will be asked in addition to emergency contact information so we have multiple options for contacting you immediately.
What is involved in the Child Care Rebate?
The Child Care Rebate (CCR) has been established to help families with the cost involved in child care. The Child Care Rebate is paid to eligible families and covers 50% of the out-of-pocket expenses which are not already covered by the Child Care Benefit (up to $7500 per year, per child). What happens if my child is booked in on a public holiday?
Sandcastles Early Education Centre is closed all Public Holidays. As long as you have not exceeded your allowable absences for the year (42), you will still be entitled to the Child Care Benefit on these days as the usual fee will be charged. This is standard practice amongst all services within the long day care industry.
